Maximum of 3 absences. All students must be present and ON TIME-No exceptions.

VISITORS: Visitors are not allowed-no exceptions.
All books and manuals issued to you must be returned at the end of summer in order to receive your Graduation Certificate.
Are to be left clean wherever we may be meeting. No paper or other trash on the floors, pick up after yourself.
Dress appropriately. No caps or head coverings. No midriff or low cut tops; your mid-sections must be covered (front and back). All shirts must have a minimum of 2” straps on both sides of shirt (no spaghetti straps). Well-fitting jeans, pants, shorts. Shorts and skirts, when standing must be no more than 2” above the knees and must cover navel. Males & females: NO SAGGING PANTS. Pants MUST be worn at the waist, belt is required. Sensible shoes (NO house shoes).
Field Trip Dress Code: No headwear, No t-shirts/muscle shirts, no shorts, and no open toe/heel shoes. WEAR: shirt, black or khaki pants and comfortable closed toe/heel shoes.
**If you are not in compliance with dress code you will be sent home and counted absent.
Proper conduct is REQUIRED at ALL times (in and out of class and on fieldtrips including the bus ride). Regular university classes or working in the workplace will be going on, be considerate!
i.e.: No running in the halls, no loud noises, excessive talking, or congregating in unauthorized areas. No alcohol beverages allowed. No smoking allowed.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES: ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES CAN BE USED DURING BREAKS ONLY-NOT DURING SESSIONS. PHONES MUST BE PLACED ON SILENT OR OFF.
THESE INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: MP3 PLAYERS, CELL PHONES, iPODS, PSP’S, GAMES, ETC. **If seen in use, devices will be confiscated and parents will be contacted.
DURING THE DAY
You may NOT leave the meeting area or field trip during the session hours until dismissal time. If you have to leave, a signed note from parent is required.
SPEAKER TIME: Sit up straight and take notes on speaker sheet. No talking, sleeping, texting or any other distracting behavior. BE RESPECTFUL TO SPEAKER AND OTHER STUDENTS.

Rising Stars is a leadership-based, academic enriched program. It emphasizes the development of hands-on leadership training, career development, life skills building and problem solving skills. Rising Stars helps students prepare for careers in the fields of politics, community leadership, journalism, technology and engineering and more.
Rising Stars is presented over the course of the summer in which the students can reapply each year. A certificate of leadership and community service recognition will be awarded to each student upon completion.
Youth participants interact during interactive sessions & learn firsthand about emerging community issues, educated on opportunities to expand their knowledge of career opportunities, plus interact with emerging & established leaders in Tarrant County.
Youth will develop the ability to analyze their own strengths & weaknesses, set personal & vocational goals, develop self-esteem, confidence, motivation & the ability to achieve success and the resilience to overcome challenges.
• Attend classes & workshops to enhance their future opportunities at college campuses
• Attend field trips to complement the classes they attend
• Connect with employers, businesses & government officials
• Be empowered with etiquette, public speaking, networking & technology skills
• Be exposed to training & employment opportunities
• Receive certifications in CPR, Lifeguard & Food handling for youth 15-18
• Attend STEM classes
Rising Stars expects to enroll about 50 middle and high school students from Tarrant County area school districts and community centers. (AGES 13-18)
A certificate of completion and community service recognition will be awarded to each student at closing ceremony at the end of the 10 weeks.
Summer Sessions will be held once a week, on Tuesday’s, from
8 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting June 11 and ending August 6, 2019.
Some sessions will also be held on Thursdays
(Calendar of events will be provided at Orientation) Parent/Guardian Student Orientation will be held on June 4 at Arborlawn United Methodist Church.
